This Yoga retreat will be hosted by Emily Peterson & Cassandra Foster
This retreat is a great way to deepen your practice and knowledge of both Vinyasa Flow & Yin Yoga.
We will have a Vinyasa Practice in the mornings and Yin mid or late day. The perfect balance for a yoga retreat.
We will spend a week with those who will be enrolled in Mission Hill Yoga's 300 Hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training run by Cassandra Foster.
If you are a 200 hr certified yoga teacher you can become certified by Emily Peterson in Yin Yoga and receive 28 Continue Education Credits to maintain your Yoga Alliance Certification.
This yin yoga training will provide students with the tools and knowledge necessary to lead an effective yin class, while simultaneously deepening their own yoga practice. This training will verse students in the fundamental concepts of yin—what it is, and how and why we do it. Research has shown that the consistent practice of yin yoga can improve measures of anxiety, depression and resilience. In this training students will learn how to enhance the processes by which this type of healing can occur, during a yin practice, through both modifications to the practice environment and conscious teaching choices that stem from a framework of trauma-responsiveness and the undergirding neurobiology of stress. We will begin to create a container and be introduced to a moment-by-moment teaching style and practice which can impact the internal experience of students and enhance self-inquiry, bodily awareness and healing. Throughout the training you will gain new depths of personal insight and awareness through direct experience of the philosophy behind yin yoga as practiced to amplify emotional and somatic healing.
By the end of the training, students will have an understanding of:
Philosophy and practice of yin yoga
The benefits of the practice
The Meridians and Five Elements
Fascia and connective tissue and their importance
Overview of the four foundations of mindfulness and the intersection of yin, mindfulness, and the brain
Four YIN sequences with modifications and options
Sequencing and messaging (creation and delivery)
Key concepts such as Trauma, ACES, Resilience, and Space and presence
An introduction to the impact of trauma, on the brain and body. Specifically how trauma impacts the skills that yoga strives to improve—and why this should be a consideration in a yoga class.
An overview of Trauma-Informed frameworks as applied to both the practice space and teaching choices. And how to use this framework when building or modifying a container—the built environment for practice.
Understand and put into practice teaching choices that mitigate stress response, promote relational connection and maximize the students' potential to experience the healing of the YIN practice.
